在2005年和2006年，我们的毕业班人数只有30个左右。而今天晚上我们有两倍于这个数字，即74个同学完成了在交流学院的学习，即将步入国外高等学府的大门。

第三届毕业典礼的讲话
尊敬的各位来宾、老师们、同学们、家长们：
Teachers, students, parents and honoured guests:
大家晚上好！今天是一个美好的夜晚，我们在这里隆重集会，举行我院第三届毕业典礼大会。首先，我谨代表学校向取得第三连冠优异成绩的 全体毕业生表示热烈的祝贺，向远涉重洋来我院执教的外籍教师和全国各地来的中方教师的辛勤工作表示衷心的感谢！对一直支持和帮助我校 办学的家长们表示衷心的感谢！并预祝毕业班的同学们在新的人生征程中取得更大的成绩！
A very good evening to you all. It's a lovely night, isn't it? Tonight we gathered here to hold our school's third graduation ceremony. Firstly on behalf of our school I'd like to congratulate warmly all the graduating students who have given us the hat trick with the third successive year of success, and express my sincere thanks to the ocean crossing foreign teachers and the Chinese teachers from all over the country for their hard work, and to the parents who have always helped and supported us, and I anticipate the graduates to go on to bigger and better things in the next leg of their life journey.
同学们！四年前，你们满怀希望和憧憬，来到了深圳教育国际交流学院，成为了我校的第三批学生。这四年是不寻常的四年，在这四年中你们 和学院风雨同舟、荣辱与共、共同奋斗、共创辉煌。
Students! Two, three or four years ago, you came full of hope and expectations to SCIE and became our third group of students to graduate. These years have been highly extraordinary. These are the years in which you and the school fought the same battles, suffered the same losses and created fantastic feat.
四年来学院按照学校“名校、名师、名课堂”的要求，严把教育、教学质量关，学校按照“以人为本、学生第一”的理念，尊重学生个性，挖 掘学生潜力，为了学生的健康发展，切实狠抓教育和管理工作。尤其是前年八月，我们在区教育局的帮助下，有了自己的校园。这为我们办学 提供了根本的保证。这一年我校制定了“教工手册”、“学生手册”、“国际考试指导手册”和“升学指导手册”等规章制度，努力做到“依 法治校、从严治学，英语立学、勤奋好学、一流教学”的“五学”模式。四年来我们摸索到一些A-level教学的规律并打造出了学院的知名品牌 。
In the last four years our school has followed the principle of “good school, good teachers, good classrooms”, placing emphasis fairly and squarely on the quality of education. Students' interest is at the heart of everything we do. We respect their individuality; help them maximize their potential, streamlined our administration to best facilitate the actual teaching in the classroom. It's worth mentioning that since August 2005 we acquired our own campus, which met a key condition for a long term, prosperous school. In the last 12 months we have produced a number of handbooks and manuals to formalize and standardize the management of the school. After four years of trial and error, we have accumulated valuable experience in A-Level education and well on our way to building an image of an elite school.
四年来你们在中外教师的辛勤教育下，经过大家刻苦学习和不懈努力，你们圆满地完成了大学预科的学业，取得了优异的成绩：74名毕业生共 收到英国、美国、加拿大和澳大利亚等260份国外著名大学预录取和录取通知书：有2人被剑桥预录取，有1人被牛津预录取，在英国排名前20名 的大学中，我们占了18位。
In the last four years you have worked tirelessly, and with the help of teachers, have successfully completed your studies and obtained truly excellent results. Among the 74 graduating students 260 conditional offers from Britain, Canada, America and Australia have been received. And of those, 2 from Cambridge and 1 from Oxford. Out of the top 20 universities in the UK, we got 18.
今天，你们意气风发、斗志昂扬，即将远涉重洋奔赴世界各国的著名学府深造，继续追求自己的理想和人生价值。在这收获的季节里，你们洒 下的汗水已经结出了累累硕果。此时此刻，充盈在我们心间的，既有师生之情，又有惜别之意，更有“青出于蓝而胜于蓝”的骄傲和自豪。在 你们即将离开母校奔赴新的人生征程之际，我谨代表母校并以一位学长和朋友的身份，简要地谈几点想法，算是离别赠言。
Soon you will go off to various tertiary institutions for your further education as a way of pursuing your dreams and realizing your personal value. In this season of harvest your hard work has turned into abundant fruit. At this very moment I 'm sure all teachers are feeling a strong sense of pride as well as a tinge of loss. As you are about to embark on your next life journey, I would like to share a few thoughts with you.
一、同学们！学校的学习生活，已经为你们实现理想、成就事业奠定了良好的基础，但是也应当看到，当今世界社会竞争将日益激烈，而 这种竞争归根结底就是人的综合素质的竞争。因此，希望同学要有坚忍不拔、不怕困难的长期的思想准备，学会在各种艰苦、复杂的环境中培 养自己的意志品质、道德情操，不断地全面提高自身素质。
Students. What you have achieved here at SCIE is a sound basis on which to build a bright future. It should also been noted that today's world is getting increasingly competitive, and only the ones with overall quality will win out. Therefore I sincerely hope that all of you prepare yourselves mentally to hang in there for the long haul, to adapt to new and challenging situations, and to continuously lift your inner quality
二、人生短暂，时光无敌。三十年前我到中国科技大学做学生的情景还历历在目，三十年来的工作和学习使我懂得了，人生的价值就在于用智 慧和精神使短暂的生命丰满和完美。理想的人生要用高度的智慧和敬业精神，抓住每个机遇，顽强地使自己的潜能发挥到极致。为了国家的富 强和人类的进步，作出自己应有的最大贡献。
Life is short, time flies. I still remember 30 years ago when I was a student with Chinese University of Technology. I've come to understand in all these years since that a person's value lies in the perfection of one's short life through wisdom and effort. An ideal life is all about capturing every opportunity and realizing every potential for the good of our country and mankind as a whole.
三、同学们！你们是我校的第三批校友。世界各国大学的校友历来具有关心、支持母校建设的优良传统，这也是推动学校发展的重要力量。我 们学校已经在伦敦建立英国校友会，希望同学们离开学校之后，无论走到哪里，都要继续关心和支持母校的发展，为母校提供各种信息。以自 己的行动和业绩为母校增光，今天你们以母校为荣，明天母校以你们为荣。同学们，母校会永远支持、关心和关注你们，为你们所取得的每一 项成绩而自豪；同时，母校更盼望同学们今后常回家看看母校的发展变化。
Students! You are our second batch of alumni. Prestigious universities around the world have always had a tradition of supportive alumni, which is an important factor in the development of the school. We have established our British alumni association in London. I hereby sincerely hope that all students here will keep our school informed with valuable information, and honor our SCIE with your words and deeds. And come and visit us when you are in town and do some catching up.

Dear teachers, parents and fellow students,
大家晚上好! A very good evening to you all.
我是A2-1 班的李逸伦, 我是A2-2班的瞿涵。很荣幸今天能作为74名毕业生代表. 在这特殊的时刻，我们对母校，对老师和对家长们的感激之情 是难以用语言来表达的。
I am Ronald from A2-1， and I am Linda from A2-2. We are honoured to speak on behalf of the 74 graduates here this evening. We are lost for words (almost) in expressing our gratitude towards our Alma Mater (which means Mother School in Latin), our teachers and parents
几年前，我们满怀着美好的梦想从全国各地聚到了教育国际交流学院。今天梦想已经成真.我们多数同学都被牛津，剑桥，伦敦政经，康奈尔， 芝加哥，港大这些一流大学录取.这是我们学校的骄傲,是我们学校领导治校育才的成功，更是每一位老师辛勤劳动的成果。
A few years back, we came to SCIE from all parts of the country to realize our dreams. Today these dreams are almost within grasp. Most of us have a foot already inside the likes of Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics, Cornell, Chicago, Hong Kong
University, etc. We have done SCIE proud, we have done our teachers proud. It's a testament to the wise leadership of the school's management and to the hard work of all teachers.

Some of the graduates tonight have witnessed the long and winding path of the school's development, literally. From the remote and desolate Kui Chong, to the relatively remote and desolate OEC, to the tiny and cramped Oxstand, to today's independent, unaffiliated SCIE in Futian. It's this unusual experience that has made us mature and made the school so cohesive and tightly knit. And we would like to thank those teachers who stuck with us all the way. Honestly speaking, we had lots of fun along the way. It's not everyday that you get a school that moves house every year.
我们中间也有一部分同学是在读完高二以后过来的。在这里我们体验到了SCIE 与普通高中之间的许多差异。 宽松的学习氛围、平等、民主的人际环境给我们这些从应试环境中出来的学生注入了一股活力。没有朱院长和MR GLANCY的开明指导，我们不可能充分展示自己的个性，自由地在各个领域翱翔。圣诞晚会上我们自己编排、演出属于我们自己的节目； 在英语戏剧表演中我们尽情地发挥我们的表演和语言才能；在经济课上，用拍卖的方式让我们体会生活中的经济；这一切都会成为我们难以忘怀的SCIE生活。也许多年以后我们并不一定会记得数学微积分知识，但SCIE的老师们通过一些小事所传授给我们的精神我们会铭记在心，这些人格的培养和塑造，我相信，对我们今后更好的适应、融入国外社会有着莫大的帮助。
Some of the graduates tonight came to SCIE at A1, instead of continuing senior 3 at a traditional Chinese high school. For those of us, we were particularly impressed with the dynamic, secure and free learning environment at the college. We would like to thank Mr. Zhu and Mr. Glancy for their democratic and modern style of leadership, which provided an
atmosphere for us to develop our individuality and vitality. We had great fun organizing our own shows for the school's Christmas party; rehearsing and performing English drama, and wheeling and dealing with real commodities in the Economics class… These memories will last a lifetime. Years from now we may not remember formulae of calculus, but these character building activities at SCIE will stand us in good stead for the rest of our lives. Tonight we would like to take this opportunity to thank all SCIE teachers for their professionalism and dedication. It's your collective hard work that made all our conditional offers possible. We recall the gusto with which teachers chased us for given work not handed in, the tutorials teachers provided after school hours or even during holidays, the endless patience UCAS coordinators showed in helping us with Personal Statements and mock interviews, the meticulous care dorm teachers displayed with our sloppy living habits. Obviously a simple thank-you will not do. The only way to repay this debt is to redouble our efforts in our quest for knowledge and growth in our tertiary studies, to do all we can to put ourselves in a position so that one day we will make contributions to the world in our respective fields, and thus honour our teachers and our alma mater. This is our promise to you.
同时我想借此机会，代表全体同学向在座的父母深深地鞠一躬。在我们成长的路上，你们总是默默的站在我们背后支持着我们，无怨无悔。如今我们学有所成，各自都找到了最适合自己的大学，能够站在更高的起点与同龄人竞争。这种优势是在座的各位父母为我们创造和争取的。我们将珍惜这一切，让父母们的苦心栽培和投资有所回报。
最后我想说，虽然今天是我们的毕业典礼，但主角应该是我们的父母，老师，以及一切帮助过我们的人。我们是幸运的。我们应该怀着感恩的心去感谢母校，感谢各位老师，感谢我们的父母。是你们让我们今天可以自豪的站在SCIE的毕业晚会上，憧憬着即将开始的世界名校生活。路漫漫其休远兮，吾将上下而求索。同学们，别忘只有努力在新的环境中取得更大的成绩，才能真正从实质上回报所有我们要感谢的人。

此刻我怀着无比激动的心情站在这里作为家长代表表达我们的心声！回想2年前，我们家长和孩子们经反复认真考察，抱着各自的目标和远景来到了贵校。两年来，孩子们在这里得到了全新教育理念和模式的教育，他们可以完全以自己的喜好来选择课程，与我国教育相比，这里给了孩子们更多的自由空间。在这里他们享受到了朱校长常常说到的他一生要不懈追求的双语、高效、轻松、愉快的学习环境。今天，74名孩子收到了278份来自英、美、澳等国家著名学府的预录通知书，这个令人兴奋和感动的成绩已表明了一切……恭喜你们！亲爱的孩子们！恭喜你们，尊敬的老师们！With great emotions I am standing here tonight to express our heart-felt feelings as the parent representative. Two years ago we parents and the children, having considered long and hard, came to SCIE with high expectations. In these two years, our children have come to appreciate and enjoy the brand new learning environment and concepts. They had the freedom to choose courses to their liking, which was not available in traditional Chinese schools. They experienced what Mr. Zhu terms as bilingual, efficient, free and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Today, all 74 graduates tonight received a total of 278 conditional offers from universities across the UK, the US, Australia and other countries. All is well that ends well. Congratulations Children. And congratulations to you too, respected teachers.

Children, today’s achievement is just another start to your next life journey. Soon you will leave your homeland and loved ones behind to make it on your own in strange lands. It is often said that in China universities are hard to enter but easy to complete, whereas overseas, it’s the other way round. Therefore you may have many challenges to conquer, setbacks to endure; but we have complete faith in you, as you have proven yourselves to be responsible, thoughtful and resourceful. You will no doubt come through in the end with flying colours.
虽然我们家长不能时时在你们身边，但我们的心永远都牵挂着你们，我们一定会在精神和物质上继续支持你们，直到你们练就坚实的翅膀展翅高飞，去实现你们人生的梦想！

I remember two years ago when I wrote a letter to SCIE, expressing a parent’s wish to find a springboard for our children to succeed, and I conveyed my confidence that SCIE was such a springboard. Tonight my confidence has proven wonderfully true. And I would use the same words again. May SCIE have greater success so that more parents will be as proud as us, more students will be as successful as our children are.
