尊敬的领导、老师、 家长、亲爱的同学们：你们好！
Respected leaders, teachers and parents, dear students: good evening.
       作为各位家长的代表，我站在这里内心的激动无法用语言来表达。回想孩子从幼儿园到中学、从嗷嗷待哺到即将远行，从他出生时我怀抱着他到现在他可以举起我，成长过程中道不尽的愁喜哀乐和近二十载春夏秋冬，一幕幕令人难忘的场景好象就发生在昨天…千头万绪，此刻我能想到的只有两个词“感恩”和“希望”。首先我代表所有的家长真诚的感谢学校为我们的孩子搭建了这样一个出国深造的好平台、感谢老师们的辛勤培养和付出，是您们为我们的孩子插上了翅膀，让他们能够振翅高飞，扬帆远航。接下来我想代表所有的家长对孩子们说几句话，表达所有父母对孩子们的共同愿望：

       Speaking as the representative of all parents here tonight, I find the emotions inside me are hard to put into words. Thinking back to the day he was born, all the way through kindergarten, primary and secondary schools, to this moment when he is on the verge of going far, far away, twenty years’ worth of happiness and worry flash back in front of my eyes, as if it all had happened yesterday. Right at this instant, the only two words I can think of are Gratitude and Hope. The former is the feeling that no doubt all parents here tonight have towards SCIE. Yes, we want to say thank you for providing our children with such an excellent platform to get into world class tertiary institutions, and thank you to all the teachers, who have worked so hard to make our children what they are today. The latter word ‘hope’ is what I would like to say to all graduates on behalf of all your parents.
       孩子们：人生的道路不是永远风和日丽的，成功之路更是风高浪急，对某些人来说生活是艰苦的，对某些人来说生活是快乐的，但对更多人来说生活尽是迷茫，这就要求你们明确人生的目标，树立坚定的信念。哥伦布在发现新大陆的航行时，历尽磨难，饥寒交迫,不少人想要放弃,可是哥伦布说向着这个方向再走三天……就是因为这三天,才有了今天的美洲。有了目标才会有未来，在你们的脑海中也许早已刻划好了未来理想生活的每个细节，而主题都是成功。但是你们要明白世界上没有一蹴而就的成功，一分耕耘一分收获，你们每天的一言一行都在不断的决定着自己的成就，也在决定着一生的命运。西班牙著名的画家戈雅(Goya)有一幅蚀刻画，命名为“当理智沉睡时，心魔就会出现”，画中人前面放着一本书，背后的猫头鹰和蝙蝠像恶魔一样纠缠着他让他昏昏欲睡。这幅画告诫我们人生应认真谨慎，以理智克服心魔的诱惑，希望你们能以此为戒，抵挡住外界的诱惑，不断地磨练自己，完善自己，潜心学习，学有所成。将来当你们面对自己的父母师长时，尽管你不一定是梦想中最成功、最伟大、最有权力的人，但希望绝对不是一个昏庸无用之人，希望你们将来都成为社会的精英。现在社会对“精英”一词有很多定义和误解，我以为作为未来的“精英”，你们如果能够通过自己的努力取得成就、对别人的成功不存妒忌、对社会和家庭尽到自己的责任，能关怀贫弱无助的人群，你就是我们心目中的“精英”。
          My dear children, the journey we call life is not always smooth sailing. What’s more, the journey of life towards success is particularly fraught with pitfalls and traps. Life to some people is misery, while to some others it is bliss, but to most people life is a maze with no clear goals or routes. Thus, for you, it is extremely important to establish a clear target, to have faith and conviction. When Columbus was on his historic voyage to discover the New World, he suffered great hardship and many of his men wanted to give up, but he said they should persist for three more days, and it was those three more days that gave us the Americas and made him a household name. You may all have targets, of things you want from life and of positions you want to achieve in society, but the key to success is the understanding of the old proverb ‘You reap what you sow’. What you do and what you say everyday make who you are and what you will become. There is a famous painting by the Spanish painter Francisco Goya entitled ‘The Sleep of Reason brings forth Monsters’. In the picture, a man slumps asleep over his book at a desk, with a demonic owl and bat on his back. It tells us to be wary of temptations. I hope you can all defeat the demons around you and in you with reason and intellect Stay focused in your endeavour to achieve what you have set out to do. One day in the future when you face your parents or teachers, you can stand tall and proud, because you have tried your best, and have become a useful member of society. You do not have to be the very best, or part of the elite, which is a word many would use to describe someone with achievement and success. If you have made every effort to attain success, if you have a forgiving and accommodating heart, if you are responsible towards your family and society, if you help the poor and the needy, then you are always the best to us.
         各位同学，今天是很值得庆祝的一天，你们已完成了人生的一件大事，尽管还有很长的求学之路，但你们都可以幸福地憧憬未来，无畏地拥抱未来。你们未来要面临许多选择，充实的人生不仅在于选择，更在于承诺，也就是责任，一个人未来的成就是与责任感划等号的，你们要牢记对社会和民族的责任，我真心的希望，日后不管你们走到哪里、也不管从事何种职业，都不要忘记自己是龙的传人，不要忘记这片养育过你们的土地和你们的父母师长，不要忘记报效自己的祖国。在你们即将扬帆远航之际，我能够送给你们的，只有一个字，那就是“爱”，它是一切力量的源泉，它涵盖了对家人、朋友、国家、民族乃至整个人类的责任、奉献与牺牲，尽管现在你们未必能体会到它深刻的内涵，但请记住：“爱”是人生追求的终极目标，是你们航行中永恒不灭的灯塔……。
         Students, today is a day to celebrate. You have accomplished a great task. Even though the road ahead is still long, you have time and opportunity on your side. You will have many choices to make, many promises and responsibilities to fulfil. Achievements come from a sense of responsibility. Wherever you go, whatever you do, you must remember that you are a descendant of the dragon. Don’t forget your parents that brought you up, your teachers that enriched your mind, and the land you grew up in. Before you set your sail and embark upon your next life journey, I would like to give you a word, LOVE. Love is the source of all strengths; it encompasses a person’s responsibility, dedication and sacrifice to family, friends, country and even mankind. You may not fully realise all its connotations yet, but please remember, love is the ultimate goal of all human endeavour. It is the never-fading beacon in your journey…
