Dear Parents,
亲爱的家长们：

　　I have great pleasure in writing this foreword to what is our first bilingual SCIE Newsletter. It may seem a little remiss that it has taken such a long time for this initial issue, but equally gratifying that it is published in this very auspicious year of 2008, when our very first intake of A level students for 2003, graduated from universities all over the world. If any of our Alumni have the opportunity to read this, they will be undoubtedly delighted by the unprecedented progress and accomplishments of SCIE since those early years and proud to be members of our family.

　　我很高兴能为我校第一份双语校刊写前言。可能我们建校这么长时间才开始筹建校刊有一些疏忽，但我也 同样高兴它能在我校捷报频传的2008年发表。这一年，我校的第一批2003届学生已经在全世界各所大学里圆满地完成学业，顺利毕业了。如果我们的校友能够看到这份校刊，他们作为我校大家庭中的一份子，无疑也会为我校从建校早期至今所取得的史无前例的成就而感到骄傲。

　　To you, our parents, who are also family, I hope these articles bring some insights into our recent activities, both academic, social and of general interest, that you find both informative and interesting. I thank the contributors and look forward to many others joining their ranks in forthcoming issues of the SCIE Newsletter, which I am confident will establish itself as a tradition.
