This year, for the first time, the school management made the participation of extracurricular activities (ECA) compulsory for both students and teachers. A great deal of emphasis has been placed on the quality of this programme, which has resulted in an unprecedented range of ECA clubs on offer, from Oxbridge Discussions, led by Mr. Greenwood, to Gourmet Cooking, led by Jeff and Candy. Some clubs did catch the eyes of students, such as Bird Watching (Doris) and Let’s Rap (Joey). There are over 60 clubs in total, some of which were initiated by students, but overseen by a teacher, as required by the school.

On August 20th, the last two periods of teaching were cancelled and all students went to the ECA Fair that was set up in the Badminton Hall and Rooms 109 and 110. Students were given a chance to ask questions to each club leader about his/her club’s activities, before deciding which ones to join.
It has been four weeks since the ECA programme started, and most students seem to like the activities they do in their registered clubs. “I like fashion, movies and the arts, and I really enjoy the clubs that I am in, because we can exchanges ideas and thoughts, and get to meet like-minded students,” Said Crystal of A1-6.
