新生入学考试New Student Entry Tests

[SICE Newsletter 11] On April 11th, SCIE held the new student entry tests for next semester. This round of tests was the start of the three rounds which will select new talented students into SCIE, and the other two rounds will be held in May and July respectively. There are two parts to the selection procedure, the written tests which were held on April 11th, and the interviews which will proceed on April 25th. Over 580 applicants from all parts of China took part in the written tests, and a portion of them will be invited to attend the interviews based on their test results.
深圳教育国际交流学院下学期的新生入学考试在4月11号举行。此轮考试是三轮新生考试的第一轮，其他两轮考试将在五月底和七月初分别举行。考试共分为两个部分，笔试部分已经于4月11号举行，面试部分将在4月25号举行。超过580名来自全中国的考生参加了笔试，根据考生们的成绩，部分学生将被邀请参加下一轮的面试。 “This year the number of entry test candidates exceeds that of any other year in the past,” said Frank, Head of the School Admissions Office. “This means the competition is more intense, which promises better quality recruits for our college.” Besides the increase in the total number of candidates, the number of applicants from outside Shenzhen is also greater than that of past years. “We are glad to see more students from other parts of China coming to take the tests, because this shows that SCIE is becoming more and more well-known nationally.”
招生办主任Frank介绍到：“今年参加笔试的考生人数比以往任何一年的考生人数都多，这就意味着竞争将更加激烈，同时学校也会招收到更高素质的学生。”今年除了考生的总人数增长之外，深圳外考生的数量也比去年有所增长。“很高兴的看到更多来自其他地区的考生参加考试，因为这证明了深圳教育国际交流学院越来越知名了。”
Frank also spoke highly of the student volunteers who helped maintain order during the test period. “About 40 SCIE students acted as volunteers on the test day, and all of them did a great job in directing the students and answering questions from parents,” says Frank. Zach and Jack from G2.1 were both volunteers in the April entry test. As Zach put it, “Many parents came and asked us about our lives on campus and how we felt about the school. We were quite happy that we could help them learn more about SCIE.” According to Jack, “Some of the students looked a little nervous, but most of them seemed pretty confident and prepared.” Both of them felt that being a volunteer was a lot of work, but indeed worthwhile.
Frank还高度称赞了在考试期间帮忙维持秩序的学生志愿者：“大概40名同学在考试中充当了志愿者的角色，他们在给考生引路及回答家长问题方面做的非常的出色。”G2.1的周镭和杜威宏都是此次笔试的志愿者。周镭讲到：“很多家长都来问我们问题。例如：校园生活怎么样？对学校的感觉怎样？等等。我们很高兴能够帮助他们更多的了解我们的学校。”杜威宏说到：“一些考生看起来有点紧张，但大部分的考生都准备充分，非常自信。”他们都觉得，作为志愿者虽然要作的事情很多，但却是非常值得的。
The student interviews will be held soon after the results of the written exam are available, and some of the participants will be accepted as new SCIE students for the coming new school year. “We welcome all the new students,” says Frank, “and we are sure that SCIE will be a perfect place for them to realise their dreams and also enjoy a coluorful High School life.”
考生的面试将在笔试结果出来不久后进行，其中部分考生将会成为深圳教育国际交流学院新一届的学生。 Frank 总结到：“我们欢迎所有的新同学，也同时确信深圳教育国际交流学院将是实现他们梦想的最佳地点，他们也一定会享受我们丰富多彩的校园生活的。”
