The United Kingdom of Great Britain is the first European country I’ve visited. In my opinion, England is a prosperous but conservative country and I find it interesting to visit such a country. I am looking forward to learn about British culture, European culture and to communicating with people of different nation.
First of all, we visited the capital of Britain, London. It is a prosperous and fun city indeed, but it also preserves a great number of valuable ancient buildings. Churches which were built during the Medieval Age are very easy to be found out on the street. Unlike most metropolitans in China, it also remains green, which means great lawn and lots of plants. This may provide a good and comfortable environment for people to live. In conclusion, London is an amazing and fantastic city but different from cities like New York or Beijing.
After a wonderful trip, we need to concentrate on study. So we came to Wellington to spend the rest of time in Britain. We take Pre-A-level lessons, do sports, join interesting clubs, and many significant activities.
I think my trips in Britain are meaningful and rich and I’ve got something which is useful for me to study and live in Britain for the future.(文/Ace)
After a month at Etherton Summer School
After a month’s life in the UK with Etherton Education, I felt I made the right choice to come because it was really worthy.
The first week was really a good experience, because we got to see different parts of one of the centers of the world, London. We went to a lot of places of interest in the day time and had brief lessons in the evening of information on the next day, which I think was really necessary in having a better time enjoying ourselves. We got to see places like the London Eye, the Tate Modern Art museum, the Tower of London, and so on.
For the next three weeks we stayed at Wellington school, located in the small town Wellington. We got to experience what boarding in an English school was like: having meals at their canteen, sleeping in their boarding house, going around their timetable, etc. What I liked most about these three weeks were the Student Hosts, who through their effort made our short stay at Wellington school even more colorful, enjoyable and unforgettable. Though they range from students about the same age as us to students who’ve finished their university studies, all of them are nice, friendly, responsible and extremely patient. We can chat with them, play sports with them, and ask questions about their schools and about universities, and they will do it with you with no complaint at all, even though they only get paid the minimum wage for doing so, which gave me a really good impression of English students and how I should improve myself if I want to go to top universities in this country.
Time flies though we do not wish so and how I hope I could have this happy memory forever. Though indeed there are places to improve, but still I would say I am really satisfied, and if I had the chance I would no doubt recommend others to come too. (文/Aaron)
