On September 15th, the University of Warwick visited our school, and made a fantastic presentation in the auditorium. All students in A1 and some from other year levels attended the presentation.
A spokeswoman of Warwick University at their Hong Kong office outlined campus life to students, such as location, environment, extracurricular activities and the Student Union., etc. Then some statistics which have never been published before were given out, e.g. the most competitive subjects as well as their required English scores and so on. She finally mentioned the importance of UCAS and the Personal Statement.
Then, a professor from the Department of Engineering informed the audience about his department in all its relevant details.
The talks lasted an hour. Although it seemed the two speakers made excellent preparations, those who were keen on Warwick were disappointed they did not talk about commerce at all.
Peter Zhang from Overseas Studies Office explained why attendance had been compulsory in this instance:, ”We regarded the lecture by Warwick as part of the UCAS application tutorials for A1 students,. The good thing is that they gave us a more rounded picture of Warwick, so now we know more about this university than before and it is good for us in terms of providing advice to students applying to UK universities.”
